A little information on the areas we have our self catering holiday cottages.

Borrowdale

Borrowdale is regarded as one of the most beautiful places in The Lake District. The road that leads out of Keswick takes you on a scenic trip past Grange and along the shores of Derwentwater.  This is a popular destination for walkers as it is the starting point of many fell walks including Catbells, Maiden Moor, Scafell, to Great Gable wich are just a few to mention.  This is a peaceful valley winding streams, waterfalls and woodland.

 Threlkeld

Threlkeld is a small picturesque village which is overlooked by Blencathra fell and St Johns in the Vale with its peaceful valley running from Threlkeld through to Thirlmere with beautiful scenery and and the Helvellyn range in the back ground.  The old railway line is the perfect walk or cycle route to take to keswick which is only 4 miles away. Threlkeld Village is perfect for exploring the northern fells, with plenty of walks from here.  Threlkeld also has 2 traditional pubs that serve excellent food and drink, The Horse and Farrier and The Salutation Inn both are in walking distance in the village.

Newlands Valley

Wainwright saw Newlands Valley has the undisturbed peace.  Newlands Valley is secluded and is at the Heart of the Northern Fells and within easy distance of Keswick and Derwentwater, which is a pleasant 15 minute walk.  Newlands Valley is an excellent base for Catbells, Maiden Moor, Causey Pike and Robinsons which are in easy reach. Newlands Valley is mostly farmland the a scattering of holiday accommodation.  Stair is the small hamlet there with the Swinside Inn which serves excellent food just outside of the hamlet. Braithwaite Village is 2 miles away which has a general store and a couple of place to eat and drink.
